SUMMER FEST AT LYMAN ALLYN OFFERS FUN ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

New London – The Lyman Allyn Art Museum will present its annual Summer Fest on June 24 from 11am – 4pm. Admission is FREE all day to the family friendly community event featuring food trucks, live entertainment, and activities on Museum grounds and inside the Museum. In the event of rain, everything but the food trucks will move indoors to the Museums galleries, auditorium, and art/dance studio.

Summer Fest will feature the music of some of the region’s great performers. Ron Murray & Vuelo combine Spanish influences with standards and original compositions featuring 7-string guitar and percussion. The Rivergods will perform their “heartfelt harmony-rich folky/rootsy/rockfish” unique style of music. Bluesman Ramblin’ Dan Stevens shares his repertoire of American roots music to classic folk. Geoff Kaufman will turn his vocal talents to kids’ songs with a maritime flair. A special interactive performance by the Drums of Mali gives all ages a chance to try their hand at djembes and dunduns.

Visitors are welcome to bring a blanket and explore the grounds of the Lyman Allyn, including the McCourt 9/11 Memorial Garden and the outdoor David Smalley Sculpture Trail. Summer Fest volunteers will be on hand for brief tours of the current exhibitions, and kids will enjoy hands-on art activities, the fun of April’s Balloon Creations, face painting by TeachArt2M , the incredible “Don’t Burst My Bubble” program from the Children’s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, a performance by Writer’s Block Ink, and animals from the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center and Blue Moon Raptors.

Summer Fest is sponsored by: Americana Furniture, Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Southeastern New England, Inc., Copy Cats Printing Services, Inc., Crocodile River Music, Cumulus Media/Q105, The Day, Dime Bank, La-Z-Boy Furniture, Henny Penny.
