Homeschool Day • March

The Museum’s hands-on workshops provide a wonderful opportunity for students to explore the collection, learn innovative art techniques and make new friends.

Programs take place on the second Tuesday of the month, 1 – 3:30 pm. Participants may register for any number of classes.

Participants will enhance their critical thinking, communication, and visual literacy skills as they explore the galleries and complete a hands-on art project each month. This program is designed specifically for aspiring homeschool artists ages 5-12.

Price Per Workshop: Individual Classes: Members $20 / Non-members $22
March 11- Inuit Animals – Explore the prints and drawings in the Inuit Art from the James Houston Collection Learn about the artmaking traditions of Inuit artists and create a representation of a cold-weather animal that lives in the North American Arctic.

Upcoming programs: Spring 2025

April 8- Handweaving

Learn about the artistry of handweaving with the Handweavers’ Guild of Connecticut exhibition Woven Journeys. Experiment with different fibers to start a woven piece for yourself.

May 13- Pollinators and Art

Make connections between the environment, bees, and art with the outdoor sculpture installation The Bee Project. Create two bee sculptures, one to add to the sculpture and one to take home, using recycled materials.
